How is Climate Home News structured?
Climate Home News is a UK-registered company with one shareholder – its founder, James Ramsey. We are a not-for-profit and do not pay dividends.
What is Partner Content and Sponsored Articles?
From time to time, you may see some articles with a blue banner carrying the phrase “Partner Content.” Such articles are clearly labelled this way to highlight that they are different from our usual editorial coverage and investigations. These Sponsored Articles and Special Reports are written in collaboration with our partners who pay to have relevant content on our site, promoting their work and sharing their expert insight on the topic whilst supporting us financially.
Where does Climate Home News get money from?
Each year, we need approximately £450,000 GBP/$500,000 USD to cover core costs and maintain our current level of work. As of July 2025, the largest contributor of our income is grant support from philanthropic foundations. This is supplemented by corporate partnerships and sponsorships, as well as contributions from our founder.

Such funding isn’t always reliable or sustainable, however, so we are always looking to generate more income to help us cover the essential costs of operating and expand our climate coverage. This is why we are launching a subscription model in September 2025, why we also sometimes host ads on our website, and why we are always seeking to expand our partners and sponsors.
What ads feature on the Climate Home News website?
Advertising is a recent addition to the website and is intended to help us increase and diversify our income, whilst sharing engaging and relevant opportunities to you, our readers. As of July 2025, the only adverts to feature on the site are those that have been booked by the Climate Home News team. Advertising partners have been chosen for their relevance and the potential levels of interest for you, the reader. Paying subscribers get an ad-free experience on our website as one of the subscription benefits.
How does Climate Home News spend its money?
All of the money we receive is invested back into producing and promoting our award-winning reporting, analysis and investigations. Overwhelmingly, our biggest expense each year is the salaries for our small global team. We are a fully remote team with no physical office and minimal overheads.
