Climate Home News is an independent English-language digital newsroom whose aim is to inform audiences and inspire action on the climate crisis and the global energy transition. We are respected around the world in climate policy circles, and our content is valued by government officials, diplomats, UN agency staff, academics and campaigners working for a low-carbon, climate-resilient future.
We have a small core editorial team who work fully remotely and collaborate with a network of trusted freelancers from around the world on a project-by-project basis. In 2018 and 2022, we won The Drum Award for specialist news site. In 2024, we were a finalist in the European Journalism Centre’s Climate Journalism Awards, and in 2025 we won a Covering Climate Now award with judges calling our story on Azerbaijan “incredibly necessary” and “truly outstanding”.
Many media outlets now frequently report on climate and environmental issues, but Climate Home News holds a unique position in the sector.

We started in 2011, growing out of the UK organisation Responding to Climate Change with our initial aim being to support the negotiating teams at the various COPs (UN climate conferences) and better inform climate diplomacy and climate justice work. But such was the success and appetite for this, that we expanded this small ambition to incorporate wider news reporting on the climate crisis and the negotiations associated with the issue.
We have since carved out a successful niche reporting on the international politics of the climate crisis and the clean energy transition, and conducting in-depth investigations on related issues.
Climate Home News is the trading name of Climate Change News Ltd, a UK-registered company whose CEO and founder is James Ramsey.
